Avoid Impulse Buying: How I Navigate Labor Day Sales with Wisdom as an Interior Stylist
Thoughtful finds and practical tips for curating your home this Labor Day with Intention
I am never one to tell anyone they need anything (except Jesus). But if you’ve been searching for a few things for your home, I thought I’d share how I approach sales as both a believer and an interior stylist. Being immersed in the design world has taught me a lot about navigating mass marketing and the pressure of overconsumption. Inviting the Lord into my finances has helped me see how to better steward what He has entrusted to me. With that perspective, I’ve found myself far less tempted to impulse buy, even when it feels easier to just decorate quickly and “get it over with.”
Waiting is what made me fall in love with slow design. There’s no need to rush the process if you can help it. Moving too quickly often leads to buying things that don’t truly fit your space or your style. I prefer to design around my lifestyle, knowing that life shifts and how I use a space will too. I’ve learned I need to live in a space first, to use it and notice its rhythms, before I can create flows and systems that truly work for me. Buying things that I cannot justify or put to use “right now” are things I just don’t consider.
I love quality pieces, but they can get pricey. When I find something I really love, I like to keep it on my radar and wait until sale time because one thing an item is going to do is go on sale.
So with that in mind, I’ve rounded up a few thoughtful Labor Day finds worth considering if you’ve been waiting for the right moment to bring something special into your home.
Furniture
These Celine nightstands are popular pieces from Joss and Main and I recommend them quite often. Right now they are almost 60% off. If you’ve had your eye on these, now would be a good time to snag them.
I love the challenge of styling small spaces. Drink tables are always a good solution for that, Especially in a bathroom. I’ve had my eye on these Walnut Brown and Rubber Wood tables for a while now and the price has finally dropped.
Stoneware
I love collecting stoneware. This Porcelain pitcher is on sale and has a coupon attached.
I have been looking to upgrade my plates and bowls so I have been keeping an eye on these Salad bowls which also have a coupon attached.
As a cast iron girl Le Creuset is one of my favorites. Right now Crate and Barrel has this exclusive Thyme color on sale for almost half off.
Floor Covering
I have always loved this rug. Its is over 60% off for 8x10 with is pretty standard for more spaces.
The Shell Rug from Revival Rugs is one of the softest rugs I’ve ever walked on. It has a 28% off coupon attached to it.
Quality rug pads are important when they go on sale these are also things I will recommend to my clients.
Wallpaper
Wallpaper can really run up a decor bill especially if you want high quality GOOD paper. I love a large scale stamped or mural design. Here are some of my favorites right now that are currently on sale.
Hosting
I love hosting. a part of making my guest comfortable is making sure they have something to relax in. Shoes in the house have never been my thing. I offer my guests slippers or socks when they come over. These are on sale so these are a must in my cart.
